Tucked into an East Vancouver alley, this woodworker’s custom workshop draws its design language from the industrial heritage of Granville Island. Corrugated metal siding, locally-milled trim, and bold utilitarian detailing give the building an honest, working character that fits naturally into its neighbourhood. Three garage doors animate the space — two opening to the alley and one connecting to the backyard — allowing the workshop to breathe and engage with its surroundings. The backyard buildout continues the Granville Island aesthetic, with chunky timber benches, substantial light posts, and crisp concrete paths and patio creating an outdoor space as considered as the workshop itself.
